International Kissing Day | Sexy Holiday Inspiration and Ideas | The French Twist
Today, July 6th we celebrate International Kissing Day on subMrs. We also want to include or combine Bastille Day, another July holiday to our Twisted Holiday. Combing these two holidays seemed to make sense. So we will celebrate today and July 14th with a “FRENCH KISS”…. and “Sexe Oral” ….. A true FRENCH TWIST!
International Kissing Day
International Kissing Day or World Kiss Day is a holiday celebrated each year on July 6. The practice originated in the United Kingdom and was adopted worldwide in the early 2000s. The concept behind the International Kissing Day is to remind people regularly the simple pleasures associated with kissing just for kissing’s sake, as opposed to kissing as mere social formality or prelude to sexual activities.
The French Kiss
The French kiss, also known as a deep kiss or a tongue kiss, is an amorous kiss in which the participants’ tongues extend to touch each other’s lips or tongue. A “kiss with the tongue” stimulates the partner’s lips, tongue and mouth, which are sensitive to the touch and induce physiological sexual arousal.
Bastille Day
Bastille Day, July 14th, which is a national holiday in France, celebrates the actions of a mob of Frenchmen, tired of the rule of their king, who stormed a prison to get weapons and free prisoners. It marked the start of the French Revolution. This is France’s Independence Day.
Why toast Bastille Day here in the United States? Because the French and American revolutions are forever entwined. The French supported us during our rebellion against the British. Our Declaration of Independence was a major influence in France and led to their Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. Both are considered two of the greatest arguments for human rights ever written. Also, The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French people commemorating the alliance of France and the United States during the American Revolution. These things are worth celebrating.
Today you get to reuse your RED, WHITE & BLUE! Make sure to eat and drink and use your tongue like the French on International Kissing Day. A breakfast of pastries, crepes, brioche, and croissants would be fitting, followed by a quiche for lunch, pâté, onion soup and bruschetta. There’s no better day to indulge in rich cheese, flakey bread, savory tarts, and red wine at dinner. Make sure to put those on your grocery list for this day!
The Spirits
In France there is two very important spirits… Champagne, Cognac & Vodka …. A must to celebrate this day!
1789 SMASH
Grand Marnier Cognac is a blend of 51% Cognac and 49% distilled essence of bitter Caribbean oranges (a variety called Citrus bigaradia). This Cognac is double-distilled then aged in oak casks before being blended with the orange essence. You can sip it neat in a snifter or on the rocks.
- 1.5 oz. Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge (Cognac)
- 4 tbsp. Lemon Sorbet
- 6 Mint Leaves
- 1 Kumquat or a segment of a mandarin orange
Muddle sorbet and mint leaves in a glass; add Grand Marnier and stir with crushed ice to dilute; top off with more crushed ice; garnish with mint sprig and kumquat or mandarin orange segment.
La Federation
- 2.5 oz Vodka
- .25 oz Cognac
- 3.5 oz Ginger Ale
- Champagne Splash
Combine vodka and orange liqueur in a mixing glass, over ice. Stir well. Add ginger ale, swirl, and strain into cocktail glass. Top with champagne , garnish with a mint leaf.
The French Twist
