• When Sir is Sick

    Posted by yozakura-prema on at

My poor Sir is under the weather. Day 2 of a fever, cough, sore throat, etc. I wanted to start a conversation about how us subbies can take care of our Sirs when they aren’t feeling well. I’m good about making sure Sir has plenty of water, juice, and hot tea to drink and I like to spoil him with all of his favorite homemade soups. I bring him movies and video games and do my best to keep the children quiet.

What I’m NOT good at is making sure that I don’t catch it too! I’m good about washing my hands so that I don’t spread it to the kids, but all too often I run myself ragged taking care of everyone else. I barely sleep and don’t take the time to eat a nutritious meal. Then when I get sick, I REALLY get sick! The last thing my Sir needs is to have a sick submrs to care for while he is still on the mend himself. You know what they say, you can’t pour from an empty cup!

What sort of things do you like to do to take care of your Sir while he is sick?
How does he like to be cared for?
Have you tried supplements such as Zicam, Emercen-C, or Airborne to prevent catching it too with any success?

LK, do you think your Mr. Fox would be willing to give advice as to how the guys on HusDom like to be cared for when they are sick? Seeing your Sir so sick and miserable is a very helpless feeling! I know I would gladly trade places with him if I could. It’s kind of heartbreaking to see your Pilar of Strength being taken out by something as physically tiny as a germ. ? I feel like I just need to spoil him back into good health.

So luckily Sir rarely gets sick with a cold or fever. When he does I make sure has all the pillows and blankies he wants. I’ll feed him whatever he wants as well. At the same time I keep my distance. This due to me having a compromise immune system and it’s pretty easy for me to get whatever the kids or Sir has for a bug. It takes me longer to recover and most the time whatever cold or virus will morph into something else. Anyhow I make sure the kids don’t overly big him, that he gets plenty of rest, and then I let the dog cuddle him as he won’t allow me near him for my own good.

Sir just finished a medical treatment a few months ago for a much more serious issue. That was completely different and at times much harder than a cold. Supporting him thru that was a learning experience for both of us.

Sir rarely gets sick with flu and fever thank goodness, but when he does he sleeps alot. I care for him by making sure he drinks plenty of fluids. Depending on the weather he likes a soft blanket to cover up. Our 2 German Shepard’s are kept away since they tend to need extra attention. I don’t keep the grandkids when Sir is sick, just so they don’t catch anything, but also so Sir can have the peace and quit while ill’st. I am lucky to not get sick at all, must be my mexican blood lol. But I am glad so I can give my Sir the extra loving attention when he is ill. With that said, Sir usually stays in bed a couple of days only!!! while I would rather have him in bed for at least a week, pampering him, he says that moving around is best to get better quicker. Get the blood circulating around the system, is the best medicine Sir says. What my Sir has issues with the most is allergies. I’m always handing him a hankerchief it seems. Dusting is a daily ritual for me,but do it willingly because it helps my sir.
