I have always had to use water based lubricant…my vagina’s PH will get out of whack pretty easily if I use any other than water based, so no, I haven’t tried anything “natural” for fear of causing everything to go all crazy! lol

I’ve heard good things about a product called “Creme de la Femme,” available on Drugstore.com (among other sites). I plan on trying this one myself. I’m also curious about grapeseed oil? (I hate that water-based lubes are rendered useless in the shower or tub).

I personally haven’t tried coconut oil.

We’ve switched over to using coconut oil and LOVE IT. All natural, tastes good, very versatile, moisturizing and no need to wipe your hands/other parts on a towel… just rub it in! Let me know if you have other questions.

I am now in menopause so have issues with vaginal dryness. We have tried lots of lubes but fiind they all get kind of sticky/tacky during use. We have been using coconut oil for the last year and LOVE it. Have also used grapeseed oil — it is good too but messier. The coconut oil is solid at rooom temp so we use it as our go to lube for most activities. Sir uses grapeseed oil for massage. Coconut oil tastes good, grapeseed oil is flavourless so you may factor that into your selection too. My Sir says that whenever I cook with coconut oil now he gets a hard on! I also use a lube specifically for menopausal dryness that I was buying at our local pharmacy but found it cheaper at Costco (is there anything that store doesn’t sell???). PM me if you want the name.

@hiskitten I’m totally in the same boat going through the change now… Ive used coconut oil some and have several other oils as I am also into Essential oils… I never thought of using any other of my carrier oils for lube, although I do use them to make massage oil. I buy my coconut oil at SAMs. The other carrier oils on Amazon, they are NOW brand. Thank you for your insight!

Its OK to be Dirty LOL!!! yes, my Dr recently told me to STOP trying to get soo clean down there ! Just water never soap up inside . My PH balance and UTI might have been caused by washing away all the good stuff ! This is just my share NOT DR ADVISE 🙂

  • Im not a doctor and cant give medical advice but i have always heard that it isnt good to use soaps and things of that nature down there. Did you ever use the coconut oil or find a good lube? I havent used coconut oil. I use it for a million other things but havent tried it for lube yet. Like V, I use a water based lube. Now im wondering if thats why i havent gotten a UTI in a long time. I used to get them fairly often but I never thought to pay attention to see if they went away when we switched lubes.

LOL curvy…you crack me up and I love you!
As you know, I am not a doctor or anything and this isn’t medical advise…but it is my opinion and experience with this subject.
You are not dirty if you don’t use soap because our vaginas are self cleaning…kinda like a self cleaning oven, lol. Yes, you should still wash…but with water only! Especially for those of us who struggle with our PH going out of whack it is so important to only use things that are water based and fragrance free. If you feel really “dirty” soak in a bath with fragrance fee Epsom salts. As for the UTI…I can’t remember the last one I had (I just remember it was BAAAAAAD) because I was told by my doctor to make sure I got up and urinated as soon as I was done having sex, even if I didn’t feel the urge to…I trickle was better than nothing she said. I haven’t had one since I started that. Sir knows why I do it and it is a part of our “routine”, in fact, he will make me get up and do it if I don’t…then I can come back and take a nap.
