Low carb works for me very well. In phase II and phase III you may have some fruits and whole grains. It’s a terrific tool to go into induction (20 carbs per day for two weeks) after a holiday binge to melt off the holiday lbs from indulging. Everyone asks my secret and I always have to confess: low carb!

As a eating plan for everyday I work off a French book (can I mention titles?) that makes small everyday changes. It is great and easy but not fast. Gatita I’d love it if you pm-ed me the basic details if we’re not to go into them here.

  • Gatita, wow, I have a hard time with not exceeded the 120 carbs per day my Dr. Told me to do, ha ha. I too would also love just the basics if you could post them.

Maybe give an example of what you eat during that initial 2 weeks.

I am sure it is ok, that is what this forum is for.

    Thanks,
    Butterfly

Hmm I Just cut everything I eat by 1/3 and increase fruit and veggies. In fact I have a nice juice press that works very well. The fiber that comes out the other end I give to my dad for his little garden to be use as fertilizer.

I start my day with a quarter of a bowl of granola (mainly oats). It’s really filling, and makes a good snack later.

I drink licorice tea to reduce my sugar cravings (a major problem of mine) – but as I understand it, a doctor’s approval should be sort for it. I actually drink a lot of tea, actually. Absolutely //no// soft drinks.

I’ve noticed that when I eat meat regularly, my weight stays in check; while when I don’t I tend to gain weight. But that may just be me. 😛

Most of my stuff is exercise, but that’s not for this topic.

Mine too LK, I don’t drink it daily but I do get cravings for it. Alcohol as well, I do enjoy a couple drinks when Sir and I go to dinner out (1-2). Besides red dry wine any suggestions for low carb drinks?

I’m starting a coffee diet and it suggests 2 Hiit (high intensity interval training) and 2 Liit (low intensity interval training) for exercise per week. I’m planning on using my turbo fire videos as they have low hit and high hit, I think could also use some insanity videos or T25 videos I have for high hit also. But the plan came with ideas for them both without doing a workout video. I just think doing a video may be easier for me.

Subbies (WARNING: This could be ADDICTIVE!) 0 calories but plenty of exercise! and you don’t have to go grocery shopping! So I suggest a diet of Sausage (Polish,Italian,Kosher…etc)
Three times a day. It’s never over cooked…. it’s always juicy…. that you may have to watch out you don’t get squirted in the eye when eating it. It’s tasty and no additives are needed unless you want a combination of flavors. It’s playful and it gets larger with loving care as you service it. It will leave a smile on your face when you finish eating it.
    So Enjoy!

OK, then! How about nutrition after a scene? I’m probably the oldest on the site, so perhaps it’s just age related, but I am wiped after a scene. Even after I sleep, the rest of the day I am in a fog. I find I’m able to minimize it and recover faster if I eat a high protein meal during the day. That and focus on hydration. Anyone else find this, or are you all young enough so that you bounce right back?

    • labbrat

      Member
      at

      I know it’s been a while, but I thought I’d chime in anyways…

Lots of protein throughout the day is good–keeps your blood sugar nice and stable for a longer period of time. Slow-burning carbs are also good if you’re into those… oatmeal for breakfast or some apple slices after supper will give you a reserve of carbs that won’t just burn up right away.

Have you tried having some juice after a scene? If it’s particularly demanding, you might just need a little fast sugar to help “boost” yourself (like after someone donates blood or… faints…, juice is a go-to treatment). Maybe also a little bit of a sports drink for electrolytes? (Those have sugar too, but not everyone likes the taste….)

Good luck! Hope you find something that helps you out!

I personally for years have stuck to a fresh diet. We eat chicken, fish (of all kinds). deer, turkey and some times pork I buy beef only for Christmas dinner. I also keep lots of different nuts available. I try to keep all the veggies we eat fresh from the store, home grown in one of my three gardens (I love dirt and outside!) or from one of the many things I grow inside. If I can’t grow it, I buy frozen only. We eat lots of things like oat’s, bran’s, barley, flax, and whole wheat’s as much as possible. I try to keep our sweets homemade only I don’t buy them at the store at all. They are too much of a temptation, the house has to go on a diet in order for it to work in my opinion. This way I can maintain what my family eats. I live by the saying “If I can’t spell it or recognize it as a food” I don’t buy it if possible. Or find a way to make it myself. I do have kids. So I keep some quick stuff that is not always great for fast meals but I’m working on this. When I make a meal I make a double if I can and freeze them in small containers. I drink way too much coffee in the winter! I will be working on this. Summers I drink lots of hot teas of all types, and tons of water year round. I am soon going to be adding back into my routine yoga starting at 15 mins. and working up. I find when I was on track with yoga I hurt much less daily. I live with a wheel barrel, hand tool, or basket in my hands all the time spring, summer and fall. I get stiff, so yoga helps. This routine will also help in the bedroom as well! Oh, and I don’t buy any dairy for drinking I do buy cheeses, yogurts, almond milk (read the Nut. facts some time at the store it will shock you how good it is for you. I and my family love it!). I only cook with oils like olive, coconut, and grape seed. I limit the badies as much as possible. We also take a daily vitamin. My kids call me the “food police”! I’m a bit neurotic about food as you can tell! =0) I have something very strange called Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria (CIU). I found this type of diet helps maintain the flare ups and the frequency of them it also controls the flare up from my arthritis so I can enjoy life without living on meds. Oh, and I have 3 hens that provide us with some eggs but, not enough for everyone. Sir, is building me a bigger coop and run this year to grow my flock I am so excited! Thank you in advance, Sir <3

My dietician gave me a diet where you count calories, not carbs anymore. Has anyone heard of this? She said as long as it has less than 80 calories it counts as one serving? Can explain more if someone would like me to. I probably could scan it in, and email it.

Ty, LK yes it is a strange hive thing what ever it is. My Doc has it as well with the same trigger as mine. Mine is cold water for the most part or extreme temp changes. I get stuck with the alg. pill and the stomach pills together they work but it takes a good month to get them gone when I do break out. Also not to sound so “food police-ish” I also have food alg. I am suppose to stay away from preservatives and red food dyes. LOL YEAH right! I can’t eat like that from a store both or one ingredients is in EVERY THING. So my body has made me eat this way and I’ve found lots of perks along the way. Like I love dirt, and cooking, didn’t know a thing about it until MG taught me TY. I like to can and I’ve even got as deep into loving gardening that I save and collect my own seed. So I’ve found a love from something that my nature has forgotten to defend me from I guess lol. And, I do plant lots of flowers so gardening for food is fun too not just work for me. =0)

I’m currently juicing for organ detox. I like my microbrewers, so every few months I detox with fresh green juice, small amounts of carrot juice, protein and fruit smoothies (to support my workouts) and pureed soups for that “spoon to mouth” sensation. If i can make it past the first week, I can pretty much go as long as I want. I do however include on solid food day on day 7, which is when I decide if I’m going for week 2. If so, I introduce veggies back into my program, but mainly just juice for another 7 days.

I do this for many reasons, but a nice bonus is weight loss. I do this for many other reasons, but my flatter stomach doesn’t look half bad. I’m rejuvenated.

It isn’t for everyone and it’s really hard, but with Mr. Poohs help, I do way better. He supports me 100%.

    Happy Juicing,
    Pooh

    • Pooh, if it is not to much trouble could you give a little more detail. Like an example day of what you drink.

      Breakfast?
      Lunch?
      Snack?
      Dinner?

      Maybe a recipe or 2.

      Thank you,

Sure, I’d be happy to, but first, I want to mention that taking your vitamins is extremely important during a juice. I take several that pertain to my needs, but you absolutely need a women’s daily vitamin and Creatine (amino acids that prevents muscle loss). I experimented with juicing (wasted a lot of money sometimes), but in the end I found the ones I liked the best. I based my favorites on how easy and non-complicated these juices are to make. I don’t have time for complicated concoctions.

Feel free to ask any questions, but I will add, juicing is a bitch at first. No-one ever mentions that before you start. You have to set a date and prepare yourself mentally. Include your Sir and prepare him for this journey. Your body will try and fight back as it expels toxins and regulates your blood sugar. If its too hard, don’t beat yourself up, have a very light salad or a piece of fruit. Before BDSM, juicing was just torture, now we make it a challenge. Sir has helped me every step of the way to keep my eye on the prize……he has rewarded me with the most incredible scenes over the past 10 days. Talk about incentives. RARRRRRRR

*Breakfast* – Vanilla Smoothie (I do chocolate too, but don’t add orange juice)
        Protein powder
        Meal replacement powder
Handful of whatever berries i have in the fridge
6 oz vanilla coconut milk (low calorie kind)
6 oz fresh squeezed orange juice
        ice
Note: I blend everything except for the powder. Add the powder at the last second for a quick stir. If you add the powder too soon, the smoothie is way to air-y. I pour it in my oversized Starbucks sippy cup and go. 🙂

*Snacks and Lunch* – Green Juice all day (unlimited) and 2 8oz serving of Carrot juice a day, lots of water inbetween.
These are the Juice recipes I use everyday:

        **Green Juice**
Spinach or Kale – I don’t measure, I just throw a big bunch in the juicer. (I alternate Spinach/Kale days)
        Cucumbers – 2 Large
        Celery – 2 stalks
Green Apples or Pears – 2 medium
        Lemon – Half, peeled
        Tomato – 1 large
        ginger – a thumb size

**Carrot Romaine Juice** (This is a terrific juice for anyone who is new to juicing! It’s sweet, but it still benefits from the alkalizing romaine.)
        6 large carrots
        1 head romaine

—–NEXT ARE SOME JUICES I MIX UP FOR A CHANGE. THESE ARE LIMITED SWEET TREATS——

**Pink Lady Juice** (fun juice to change things up if you want something sweet)
        pear – 1
        beet – 1
ginger – 1 inch or thumb size
        pineapple – 1 ½ cups

        **Sweet Treat**
        1 large pear
        1 apple
        1 cup pineapple, cubed
        4 large stalks kale
        1 cucumber

**Dinner** I’ve never heard of anyone else who eats soup while juicing, but this saves me from complete insanity during those hard times. I have two favorites that I found in a Better Homes and Gardens Soup Recipe Magazine and online. I will add the links at the bottom ingredients for cooking instructions, but I’ve altered them for less calories, so I’ve included my versions as well.

***Shiitake Mushroom-Tomato Bisque*** (my all time favorite)
1/2 – cup sliced leeks (or chopped onion (1 medium)
        1/2 – cup sliced celery (1 stalk)
        2 – cloves garlic, minced
2 – I use olive oil (they use tablespoons butter or margarine)
1 1/2 – cups sliced fresh shiitake mushrooms* (or other fresh mushrooms)
        1 – 14 1/2 ounce can diced tomatoes, undrained
1-14 1/2 ounce can chicken broth or vegetable broth
1/2- cup, I use unsweetened coconut milk or Almond Milk (they use whipping cream)
1/2 – teaspoon dried dill weed (I like a little extra, so yummy)
1/8 – teaspoon ground black pepper
Sauteed mushrooms (optional) (I add in the soup for a little something to chew – cheat a little)
        http://www.bhg.com/recipe/appetizers-snacks/shiitake-mushroom-tomato-bisque/

        ***Cauliflower Soup***
        3 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion (6 ounces), sliced thin
1 head very fresh cauliflower (about 1-1/2 pounds), broken into florets
        Salt, to taste
        5 1/2 cups water, divided
Extra virgin olive oil, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Nutrition is a big problem for me. I comfort eat, although just now I’m ok. Against all conventions, what works best for me is no breakfast, a very light lunch and a healthy dinner with a light snack later on. If I eat to early in the day, I can’t seem to stop once I start.
Exercise is the best way for me to keep my weight stable.
I might try the juicing, even for a week and then do a maintenance day once or twice a week?
    Great topic!

Husband and I both follow a low carb lifestyle. It’s the ONLY food changes that allow me to lose weight. It’s slow and steady, but it always works. Friday night I FINALLY came up with the perfect pizza replacement recipe after several years of trying different things. Husband is very very happy with me.

We do a paleo-ish type diet about 80% of the time. Our biggest focus is keeping processed food out of the house and only eating unprocessed carbs. So, the bulk of what we eat is meat and eggs, fruit, and vegetables. If we are out of town, have a special occasion come up, or decide to treat ourselves to dinner out, we get whatever catches our eyes. Those things don’t happen regularly, so it seems like an extra special treat and we don’t feel deprived. Mister also requires that I drink at least 3 bottles of water (about 3 pints) a day. He would like me to drink more, but it’s really difficult for me to get more than three down. I also eat less if I’m drinking more, and, being pregnant, he would rather I ate.

A typical day here generally starts with some combination of eggs, fruit, and yogurt for breakfast if I eat it, a snack of fruit or nuts if I’m hungry, leftovers (meat and some sort of veggie), a salad, chicken with avocado, a sweet potato, etc. for lunch, a snack of fruit or nuts of I’m hungry, some combination of meat and veggies for dinner, for example we had bunless burgers with avocado and salsa last night, and will have a chicken stir fry for dinner tonight, if I’m hungry before bed I’ll have another snack of either fruit or nuts. I usually end up have lunch and dinner with one sometimes two snacks. 🙂

I’m living on an autoimmune-Paleo diet since my thyroidectomy. No grains, no dairy, no sugars (I do use honey in my tea), no legumes, no nuts, no processed foods, no seeds, and no coffee. I include fermented foods and drinks to keep my tummy happy. I mostly eat small portions of grass-fed beef, chemical free chicken, wild caught fish, uncured bacon, organ meats, pork, turkey, free range eggs, lots of organic veggies, sweet potatoes, and some organic fruit. I make sure to include coconut oil/butter in my daily intake as well as organic supplements. I drink plenty of herbal teas, kombucha, bone broth, and distilled water. This diet will be a permanent thing for me so that I am able to live without the discomfort experienced by thyroid/autoimmune sufferers. Sir tries to eat organic and small portions, but has decided that the Paleo diet is not for him. LOL. I have lost the 10-15 pounds that I gained when I was first diagnosed with thyroid disease, and it’s all due to this diet. For exercise, I do a 30 minute kettle bell routine and a 30 minute yoga cool-down several times a week. I’m also in the yard several times a week gardening and taking care of the lawn. I do all the housework. When I’m at the computer, I sit on an exercise ball and take breaks to do sit ups. I also do stuff like take the stairs, stand when I could sit, and park a good distance away from the building. Whew!

I thought I’d mention something that I’ve used in the past, that I’m also using right now to jump start my healthy new year routine. I’m using a plan called whole30. It’s a 30 day “cleanse” to get you back on track – no more cravings, blood sugar at normal levels, etc. My sir and I both used it last year. He lost 30 pounds and has kept all but 2 off, and has already lost that this year. I lost 15 and kept it all off and am using it right now. I’ve done a lot of research on the science of nutrition to make sure this is a healthy plan. If you’re interested, look at http://www.whole30.com I’m not selling anything, and I don’t follow it to the letter (we can’t afford 100% organic fruits / veggies and 100% grass-fed meats with 5 of us at home, including a 17 year old goat/man-child.) All I know is that we all feel better and my family requested to go back on this plan after the new year. I’d love to talk to anyone about it and share recipes and helpful tips with you.

Just thought I’d chime in and recommend a book called Trim, Healthy Mama. Christian based. More about whole foods and how to group them with each other. There is a whole chapter on sex with your husband (which aligns with what were practicing here). Help on hormone balance and supplements. There is a huge support group on Facebook that answers questions and helps keep you motivated. It’s the easiest way I’ve found to stay healthy. No calorie counting. You separate your meals, so for example, lean protein with every meal. If you have carbs like rice, then you limit the fat of the meal. If you have fat, like butter or bacon, then you limit the carbs. Interesting. The hardest part is giving up sugar and getting used to stevia or Truvia. But there are SOOOO many good recipes out there. It’s really fantastic! 🙂

I hear a lot about the 1200 cal diet plans for people counting cals, but please remember this is the lowest recommended to go when dieting. If it is just for a short time 4-8weeks it’s not as big a deal but your body will adjust and quickly 1200 cal no longer burns as many cals as when you started. Some of this is due to weight loss but most of it is because your body slows down its non essential functions (read healing bruises and hair and nail growth…) one way to counter this I’d to do something called cal cycling where you drop your cals low for a short time, but before your body creeks out and adjusts you hit it with a high cal day or meal. Many women have a hard time with the water weight fluctuations this causes, but if you choose your high cal day to be mostly fats and some protein it can mitigate this.

I have used my fitness pal and find it is a wonderful tool. I used it to drop from 200#’s 38% body fat down to 142# 17% body fat, then bulk to 25% body fat adding 5 lbs of muscle and dropping back down to a comfortable 5’10.5″ 150-155#’s depending on the day and 22%bodyfat.

I have lots of information on the subject of diet/nutrition/exercise and am willing to help those who may be lost or just want someone to help them find what works for them. (Just a passion of mine not a service I sell)
