• How my overall health affected my mindset

    Posted by Veruca on at

Lately, as some are aware, I’ve been having some minor health issues. Sir and I now know that it is nothing serious and completely manageable. I have been doing the things necessary for me to begin feeling better; and I AM feeling better 😉
I had actually not been feeling well for a while and it just recently got to the point that I went to find out what was wrong, but that isn’t the point of this forum post. The point is, how it really affected my mindset. It was gradual, but little by little as I felt worse and worse, I struggled to stay in role more and more. It was a challenge to not go completely vanilla at times. I was stressed out worrying about what could be going on and cranky because I didn’t feel good and I wasn’t sleeping. Sir has done a wonderful job balancing being understanding of how I was feeling, making sure we found out what was wrong and also trying to keep our D/s alive. I really understand now how making sure I am healthy and feeling my best is critical to my mindset.
It is important to take care of ourselves so that we can continue to be the best subbies we can be!

    Always take care of yourself!!
Ask for help, rest, eat well, use your safe word, exercise, see the Dr…

These are all ways we take care of ourselves, but if for what ever reason we don’t, won’t, or don’t know how our bodies will slowly force us to stop and figure it out. The hints will be small at first, but as time goes on they get bigger. I think acting “vanilla” may have been more about the bodies fight or flight preservation response to a prolonged unidentifiable adversary than a true change in your mindset.

This is a team effort and just like any team sometimes one has to make up for the other for a short time.

I totally agree. That is why I posted this… I didn’t expect things to affect my mindset as much as they did. It doesn’t matter how long we have been D/s-M, life will always give us lessons to learn from. ?
