• Cleaning your collar

If you have a silver day collar, like I do, and it’s got a lot of little nooks and crannies along with a chain…I found a great way to clean it!

As you know, over time and with extensive wear, silver will tarnish. It’s a pain to clean too! I found a video on YouTube that makes it totally stress free and works!

All you need is a glass bowl lined with aluminum foil (shiny side up), baking soda and boiling water! You put your collar in the foil lined bowl, add 1-2 tbs of baking soda and then pour the boiling water over it. Let it sit for a while and the foil and soda will do all the work. When you take it out, no need to rinse it, just use a silver cloth to buff it up a bit and bam! Perfectly shiny again!

    P.S. I would only do this if it’s SILVER…

Thanks for the post Veruca! Mine is stainless steel, so I only ever clean it with the cloth it came with, but it is my FAVORITE chore by far so I was just happy to see a post about it! I love that Sir compliments me on how clean and shiny I keep it. It makes me feel good that he has noticed how much it means to me. If I ever get a silver collar down the road in will have to remember this trick! ((Hugs))

Yes, let me know how it works for you!
I had actually broken the chain on my collar trying to clean it with a silver cloth and that is what prompted me to find this after Sir had fixed it. I did it twice in a row, because I don’t think I let it sit long enough the first go round (I was impatient, lol)…with your Viking weave, I would let it sit for a while so it really gets into those tight spaces.
