  • Conditioning your Ropes

    Posted by bliss-aka-mr-grants-muffin on at

We have a couple of different types of rope for our bondage play. My Sir recently purchased some Hemp rope and he read that he needed to burn the fiber hairs that stick out and then condition it with some type of oil. We considered different types of oils we had in the house and Coconut is always our “go to” but we were concerned of it getting rancid. After he used up my Neatsfoot oil, I brought out my favorite saddle conditioner and we tried it. We LOVED it! It made the rope feel softer, yet not greasy like the Neatsfoot section. I chatted with LK and she said I could post this. The conditioner is called Leder-Balsam by Effax. It is an all natural Lanolin based product from Germany. You can likely purchase it at your local tack store or at an on-line horse supply company. We love the way it smells and the way it leaves his hands and my skin feeling after we enjoy rope play!

    Bliss,

Thanks for the info!! We used a traditional Japanese oil for our Jute, but I am not overly enthusiastic. It doesn’t seem to make the ropes as soft as I would have imagined. I think we will try your saddle conditioner next time!! <3

    Kyah!
