As some of you have discovered, i’m about as wet behind the ears as they get, when it comes to D/s lifestyle. Clear latent needs for, well, as long as i can remember, but having lived in small towns for most of my life, it was only when i moved to London that i started coming across real D/s men. Unfortunately i also came across some domineers, although luckily their behaviour shone through immediately, and i kept away. And i came across a LOT of vanilla men too, mind you… The sweetest of guys, that my friends hated me for dumping. But i want sweet AND Dom.

i never read FSOG, and don’t want to, for now, as i heard that Grey turns out to be borderline evil. Although i know it’s fiction, i was wondering if there are any D/s or BDSM books out there with a slightly more happy ending? Well, what WE would call happy ending, haha. One of my favourite movies of all time is off course 9½ weeks, but that has a horrible ending as well. Is there really nothing out there where things turn out good in the end? When we think of D/s, we think of something that comes from love. Surely someone has incorporated that into film or books?

Thanks in advance for any tips, and for putting up with a newbie, just embarking on what will surely be the most life changing experience ever!

One of my favorite series is the Club Shadowlands series by Cherise Sinclair. I think there are 8 books now. Read them in order it will help. The first one is free on Kindle. The Master At Arms series by Kallyso Masters is another good series. 5 books so far. Also read in order and first one is free.

Is it just BDSM fiction books you are looking at?

Thanks for the tips, Sassymagpie. I might check those series out. And yes, Zwith, just BDSM fiction.

I will actually read FSOG soon after all. My niece (21, so not a little one, haha) read it, and started talking about it. She bought the books, so I have borrowed them from her. Just gotta finish the book I’m reading now (normal fiction). I only read a few pages before bedtime, so I’m not one to go through books in a couple of days. But I like to have one going at all times.

  • Hello. It has been awhile since I read FSOG but I don’t recall him being “evil”. I think that term might be coming from some VERY vanilla people. We are just tip toeing in the lifestyle so far but have enjoyed a little kink a long the way in our 26 year marriage so the book did not “shock” me. Be forewarned though, if you are an avid reader the actually writing is not that great. Good luck and enjoy!

You could try Submissive trilogy by Tara Sue Me, or books by Eden Bradley. I started with her book The Dark Garden.

I enjoyed the submissive series also. It was nice to have a story from both perspectives. Also,I’m not sure in any capacity that Mr. Grey could be described as evil. FSOG awakened a new life for us ( now married 26 years)

I loved FSOG and thought it had a nice ending. Not sure what the evil is about. It was eye opening and brought a new dimension to our marriage of 20 + years too.
